This Beautifully ornate Egyptian House on Chapel Street certainly stands The Egyptian House, located on Chapel Street, was built in the early 18th century, during a period known as the "Egyptomania." 
This was a time when Europe, and indeed the world, was enthralled with the mysteries of ancient Egypt. 
Inspired by the discovery of the Rosetta Stone in 1799 and the subsequent deciphering of hieroglyphics, a fascination for all things Egyptian swept across society.
